Mr. John S. Standrod, 83, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian, MS. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 18th, at 3:00 P.M. at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Noxapater, MS, with Rev. Gary Caudill officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 P.M. until service time at the church. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
John was born August 29, 1934, in Van Buren, Arkansas to Melvin Luther and Ina Harris Standrod. He was a U. S. Air Force and Navy veteran of the Korean War. He retired as a millwright from the Georgia Pacific Plywood plant. He was a faithful member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha Standrod; sons, Byron F. Barnes, Mark Standrod, and John Lindsey; and two sisters, Melva Lee Holsberg and Jean Rich.
John is survived by his wife, Billie McAdory Standrod of Noxapater, MS; sisters, Billie Ann Ray of West Memphis, AR, Evelyn Foster of Nashville, TN, and Rebecca Fleming of West Memphis, AR; a brother, Terry Standrod of Augusta, GA; and grandchildren, Lindsey Buchanan, Amy Combs, and Abby Barnes.
Pallbearers will be Randy Thomas, Charles Thomas, Jerry Barrett, Chad Stone, Elijah Caudil, and Adam Ingram.
Memorials may be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church.
