Funeral services for Jenelle B. Yates will be held Thursday, March 1, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Dr. Dan Howard officiating.
Visitation will begin on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will follow in Cedarlawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Yates, 93, of Philadelphia, died Monday, February 26, 2018, at Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian.
A native of Calhoun City, MS, she taught Elementary Education for several years at Philadelphia Elementary School before retiring. She was a founder of the Philadelphia/Neshoba County Park Commission. She was co-author of Red Clay Hills Of Neshoba County and made major contributions to the genealogy department at the library. Mrs. Yates was a member of First Baptist Church where she was a choir member and taught Sunday School.
Survivors include daughters, Nelda Mooney (A. W.) of Philadelphia, Barbara Edwards (Mike) of Philadelphia; sons, George Yates of Philadelphia, Sidney Yates (Tammy) of Meridian, Bro. Hubert Yates (Tracey) of Louisville, Dr. Jeff Yates of Russellville, AR; eight grandchildren, Audie Stewart (Chris), Mina Mooney, Sarah Helen McGee(Wesley), Tyler Yates, Nolan Yates, Hannah Yates Mayo (Rush), Andrew Yates and Ian Edwards; great-grandchildren, Zach Stewart and Eva Claire McGee; and brother, Robert O. Burson of Vernon, CT.
Mrs. Yates was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Yates; and brother, Donald Burson.
Pallbearers are grandsons, Chris Stewart, Tyler Yates, Nolan Yates, Rush Mayo, Ian Edwards, Andrew Yates and Wesley McGee. Honorary pallbearers are George Yates, Sidney Yates, Bro. Hubert Yates, Dr. Jeff Yates, A. W. Mooney and Mike Edwards.
