James Edward “Jimmy” Rodgers


James Edward “Jimmy” Rodgers, 90, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2015, at his residence in Starkville, Mississippi. Graveside services and interment will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 2015, in Memorial Park Cemetery in Louisville with Rev. David Keen officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service from 10 a.m. until service time at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville.

Mr. Rodgers was born on March 25, 1925, to William Neely Rodgers, Sr. and Myrtle Mae Warner Rodgers. He was a retired electrician; a member of First United Methodist Church of Louisville; and a mason. During World War II, he answered the call of his country by serving in the United States Navy spending his entire enlistment on board the USS Montpelier CL-57.

Mr. Rodgers is survived by his wife, Juanita Whitmire Rodgers, of Louisville, Mississippi; three daughters: Donna Jean Triplett and husband, Johnny, of Columbus, Mississippi; Judy Carol White, of Louisville; and Janet Gregg and husband, Larry, of Starkville, Mississippi; and his son, Eddie James Rodgers and wife, Kimberly, of Marathon, New York. He also leaves behind his brother, William Neely “Billy” Rodgers, Jr., of Louisville; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his granddaughter, Tammy Gail Roland; and his great-granddaughter, Natalie Gregg.

Serving as pallbearers will be Kevin Gregg, Larry Gregg, Gage Parker, Johnny Triplett, and Brent Walton.
