Helen “Nickey” Williams, 96, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, April 26, 2015, at Baptist Memorial Hospital Golden Triangle in Columbus, Mississippi. Visitation will be Monday, April 27, 2015, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and on the day of the service from 10:30 a.m. until service time at the church. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at Bevill Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Childs and Rev. Leslie “Bo” Mills officiating. Interment will follow in Bevill Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Williams was born on July 26, 1918, to Dr. George T. and Elsie Archer Bledsoe. She was a member of Bevill Hill Church and a member of the Elizabeth Chapter of the Eastern Star Lodge #73. “Miss Nickey” retired after 19 years from the Spartus Corporation and she was a homemaker.
Mrs. Williams is survived by two daughters: Marie Shaw and husband, John D.; and Norma Jackson and husband, Grady, all of Louisville. She loved being “Granny” to three grandchildren: Doug Shaw and wife, Emily, of West Point, Mississippi; Shea Jackson Polk and husband, Terry, of Birmingham, Alabama; and Kyle Jackson and wife, Andrea, of Louisville; as well as to five great-grandchildren: Elliott and AnnHelen Shaw; and Jackson, Carson, and Rachel Polk. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Williams; her sisters, Lula Bell Croft and Emma Mae Taylor; her brother, Dr. Robert E. Bledsoe; and her parents.
Serving as pallbearers will be Doug Shaw, Kyle Jackson, Terry Polk, Brad Bradford, Eddie Harsh, Josh Massey, Brian Rives, and Vance Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Heard, Doc Taylor, Tommy Morgan, Johnny Bradford, and Ernie Mills. Memorials may be given to Bevill Hill Cemetery Fund, 245 Raymond Williams Road, Sturgis, MS 39769.
