Milton Bailey


Milton Bailey, 88, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at the Winston Medical Center Nursing Home in Louisville, Mississippi. Visitation will be Thursday, January 22, 2015, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 23, 2015, in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel in Louisville with Rev. Greg Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Memorial Cemetery in Noxapater, Mississippi.
Mr. Bailey was born in Detroit, Michigan, on April 24, 1927, to Henry and Bessie Green Bailey. He was a member of Union Ridge Baptist Church; and he was retired from Ingalls Shipyard. Mr. Bailey answered the call of his country by serving in the United States Army during the Korean War and World War II.

He is survived by his loving wife of more than 60 years, Billie Nowell Bailey of Louisville; a daughter, Mary Reed and husband, David of Noxapater; and a sister, Diann Gammon of Detroit. He has three grandchildren: Tammy Thomas and husband, Doug; Mike Reed and wife, Michelle; and Jay Reed. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren: Tiffany Byrd and husband, Adam; Cassie Thomas; Austin, Cole, Ross, and Lake Reed; and by great-great-granddaughter, Joy Haven Byrd. Mr. Bailey is preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Parker; his parents; his brother, Alford Bailey; and two sisters, Helen Bailey and Evelyn Tidwell.

Serving as pallbearers will be Lamar Clark, Don Greenwood, Charles Reed, Autry Rutledge, Rex Allen Smith, and Doug Thomas. Memorials may be given to Union Ridge Baptist Church, c/o Jamie Clark, 1629 Johnson 5 Road, Noxapater, MS 39346.
