Robert Dennis “Bob” Cockrell, age 63, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, August 15, 2020, at his residence in Louisville, Mississippi. Graveside services and interment will be 10 a.m. Monday, August 17 at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Louisville, with Bro. David Keen and Bro. Charles Rook officiating. The family encourages everyone to follow COVID-19 precautions.
Bob was born December 26, 1956, to Charles Cockrell and Jewel Mordecai Saarinen in Macon, Mississippi. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. During his younger years, Bob enjoyed square dancing and he was an avid Jeopardy and Pawn Stars fan. He was a retired painter.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 40 years Monica Ming Cockrell of Louisville, and his children: Bobbie Jones (Kristina) of New Orleans, Louisiana, Jared Cockrell (Lindsey), and Gracelyn Cockrell all of Louisville. One of his greatest joys was being “Daddy Bob” to his grandchildren: Caleb, Layla (Jordan), Lillie, Logan, Van, Cooper, Hunter, and Macie. He also leaves behind his siblings: Larry Cockrell (Debbie) of Louisville, Renee Davis (Francis) of Slidell, Louisiana, Jeff Cockrell (Niki) of Mandeville, Louisiana, David Ryan also of Slidell, and Clay Ryan of Durango, Colorado, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his mother-in-law Joy Ming of Louisville. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Ronald Joseph Cockrell, and his father-in-law Van Dorne Ming.
Serving as pallbearers are Jared Cockrell, Phil Chappell, David Hughey, Jason White, Shawn White, and Tom White. Honorary pallbearers are Buddy Rogers and Tim Smith.
