Billy Jack Goodin

Billy Jack Goodin, age 88, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2020, at his residence in Louisville, Mississippi. Graveside services and interment will be 2 p.m. Monday, August 17 at Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Louisville, with Bro. Jason Gross officiating. The family encourages everyone to follow COVID-19 precautions.

Jack was born November 18, 1931, to Henry C. Goodin, Sr. and Lydia Elizabeth Hemphill Goodin in Winston County, Mississippi. He was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church where he was the oldest actively serving deacon. Jack retired from Southern Natural Gas Company; and for several years, he drove a school bus. For more than 20 years, he owned and operated Goodin’s Steakhouse in Louisville. Jack was an avid outdoorsman and he especially enjoyed deer hunting. After he was no longer able to hunt, he enjoyed watching the deer graze in his back yard. He answered the call of his country by serving in the United States Army National Guard from which he also retired.

Jack is survived by his daughter Lisa Goodin of Louisville. One of his greatest joys was being “Granddaddy Jack” to his grandchildren: Jason Warner and wife Kristi also of Louisville, and Lindsay Moody of Ackerman, Mississippi. He also loved his great-grandchildren: Kevin (Alexis) Warner, Levi Warner, Logan Warner, Kaydence Harrison, and Jacob Moody; as well as his great-great-grandchildren Sadie Grace and Waylon Jeremy Warner. Jack was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years Roma Ree Goodin, his son Jackie Goodin and daughter-in-law Julie Goodin, his parents, two sisters, and five brothers.

Memorial contributions in honor of Jack may be given to Good Hope Cemetery Fund, c/o Chris Moody, P. O. Box 847, Louisville, MS 39339. The rest of the family would like to thank his daughter, Lisa, for the excellent care she has given to Jack, which allowed him to remain home as he wished.
