Mrs. Nona Faye Sisson Vowell, 89, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2020, at the Winston County Nursing Home in Louisville, MS. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Saturday, March 21st, at Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Mike Dowd officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the service time at the church. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Nona was born October 4, 1930, in Winston County, MS. She was a factory worker, and a member of Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas J. Vowell; one daughter, Peggy Robb; one granddaughter, Allyssabeth Vowell; and her parents, Stella Smith Sisson and Lewis B. Sisson.
She is survived by one daughter, Marie Gordon, and her husband Rev. Owen Gordon, Jr of McCool; one son, William Thomas Vowell, and his wife Lorrie Vowell of McCool; one sister, Dean Dempsey of Louisville; five grandchildren, Justin Vowell, Jared West, Lauren Leigh Vowell, Thomas Gordon, and Anna McCullough; four great grandchildren, Karie Broadway, Kole Vowell, Izzy Vowell, and Jacob McCullough; and one great great grandchild, Elijah Broadway; as well as numerous nieces, nephews,and friends.
Pallbearers will be William McCully, John Robb, Justin Vowell, Cole Vowell, Thom Gordon, and Jared West.
