Services for Laverne F. Nowell will be held Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Rev. Matthew White and Rev. Gene Higginbotham officiating. Burial will follow in Cedarlawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 12 noon until service time at McClain-Hays Funeral Home. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Laverne Frazier Nowell , age 91, peacefully transitioned to heaven on May 7, 2019.
She worked in the insurance industry for 50 years and retired from Philadelphia Security Insurance Agency. She was a member of the Eastern Star and a longtime member of Longino Baptist Church, where she served as church secretary and Sunday school teacher for many years. After retiring she enjoyed volunteering at the Neshoba General Hospital Gift Shop.
She is survived by her son Gary Nowell and daughter-in-law Moni McKee of Ridgeland, MS; grandchildren, Nicole Nowell Benson (Chris) of Madison, MS, and Jonathon Nowell (Linn) of Oslo, Norway; great-grandchildren, Beckett, Charlie, Adelle and Anders Benson, and Anna Mason Nowell.
Laverne is also survived by her sister Patsy Sanders of Philadelphia, MS; brothers, Fred Frazier (Katherine) of Louisville, MS, Ralph Frazier (Melnie) of Wesson, MS; and her sister-in-law Carol Frazier of McKinney, TX; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Nowell was preceded in death by her husband Quinn Nowell; infant son Kevin Nowell; parents, Fred, Sr., and Minnie Frazier; and brother Mike Frazier.
The family would like to thank the staffs at Atwood and Quality Hospice, as well as personal caregivers, for all the care given to the Nowell family.
