Herbert was born October 20, 1935, to Thomas and Lillie Jordan Fulgham in Monroe County, Mississippi. At the age of 10, he moved to Clay County where he graduated from West Point High School in 1953. He entered the United States Air Force in 1955. Most of his later career was spent in the long-haul trucking industry. He came to Louisville in 1980 where he joined L. M. C. Trucking as dispatcher. L. M. C. later became Liberty Transportation, where he would retire in 1994. His hobby was woodworking which he would continue while working part-time at Wal-Mart in the paint department. Health reasons forced him to give up both these occupations. He was a member of West End Baptist Church in West Point.
Herbert is survived by his sister Daisy Burka of Pennsylvia; a host of nephews; as well as friends Carol Eaves and Buddy Rogers both of Louisville. Herbert is preceded in death by his parents and sisters.
Herbert requested in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be given to Louisville Friends of the Animals, 86 Thompson Street, Louisville, MS 39339.
