Services for James A. Bishop will be held on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. from McClain-Hays Chapel with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. until service time. Interment will be in Cooks Chapel Cemetery. Rev. Mark Cloys and Rev. Eddie Pilgrim will officiate.
Mr. Bishop, 101, died Friday, January 19, 2018, at Neshoba General Hospital in Philadelphia.
A native of Preston, MS, he lived most of his life in Neshoba County. He was a graduate of Forestdale High School. He served in the U. S. Army during WWII as a tank instructor in Ft. Knox, KY. He was owner/operator of Bishop’s Rolling Store for over 30 thirty years, and then retired from U. S. Motors after working 14 years. Mr. Bishop was a member of East Philadelphia Baptist Church.
Survivors include son, Jerry Bishop (Charlotte) of Philadelphia; grandson, Greg Bishop (Pam); and great-grandson, Dalton Bishop of Collinsville; granddaughter, Lisa Hammick (Steve) of Caledonia; and great-granddaughter, Harley Hammick; daughter-in-law, Elsie Bishop of Noxapater; and nieces, nephews and close friends.
Mr. Bishop was preceded in death by wife, Lavada Bishop; son, James “Jim” Bishop; and two sisters, Hazel Mou and Christine Bryan.
