Harry Eaves, age 80, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Monday, January 29, 2018, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, January 31, in the Nowell Massey Chapel with Rev. Grady Crowell and Rev. Mark Mayo officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service at Nowell Massey Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Interment will follow in Murphy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Harry was born in Winston County on August 20, 1937, to Henry Arthur and Ruby Hooks Eaves. He was a member of Murphy Creek Baptist Church and retired from M. L. Mills Oil Company. Harry loved being outdoors; he loved farming, fishing, hunting, and riding his four-wheeler to check on his timber. For more than 20 years, he served on the board of the Bond Water Association serving as president for many years. He answered the call of his country by serving in the United States Army and the National Guard.
Harry is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Dean Eaves; his daughter, Sherry Pearson and husband, Lee, all of Louisville. One of his greatest joys was being “Pop” to his grandson, Rylee Pearson, and following him as he participated in various activities. Also, he leaves behind two sisters, Jean Nall, of Clinton, Mississippi; and Peggy Cockrell and husband, Ray, of Louisville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ruby Eaves; two sisters, Mildred Arnett and Ruby Bunch; and two brothers, Henry Elmer Eaves and Welton Eaves.
Serving as pallbearers are Scott Barnhill, Turner Barnhill, James Hall, Joey Johnson, Ben Kirk, and Lance Vernon. Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Eaves may be given to Murphy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 5420 Bond Road, Louisville, MS 39339.
