Valeria Hickman

Ms. Valeria Hickman, 92, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, June 8, 2017, at the Winston County Nursing Home in Louisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2017, at Friendship Baptist Church on Craig Springs Road with Rev. Dan Robertson and Rev. Tim Buchanan officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service from 3 p.m. until service time at the church. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Sturgis.

Valeria was born July 17, 1924, to Harmon and Willie Nation Shaw. She is a member of Friendship Baptist Church of Sturgis. For many years she brought comfort to those in her care at Starkville Manor Nursing Home. She enjoyed outside activities such as gardening; and she enjoyed quilting and sewing.

Valeria is survived by her daughter, Thelma Jackson; and two sons, Raymond Hickman and wife, Catherine, of Sturgis; and William Hickman and wife, Sherry, of Seagrove, North Carolina.
