Mr. Alvin Reginald Horne, 85, passed away on June 28, 2017 at his home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 1st, at 2:00 P.M. at Noxapater United Methodist Church, with Rev. Jeff Walton officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 12:00 noon until service time at the church. Interment will be in Noxapater Methodist Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Alvin was born on November 14, 1931, in Winston County, MS. He was a graduate of Noxapater High School, and a Navy veteran of the Korean conflict. He was a retired produce buyer for Bruce Newland Company in Atlanta, GA. After retirement, he worked with Georgia Pacific in Louisville and in sales at Brunt Ward Chevrolet. He was a member of Noxapater United Methodist Church. He is preceded in death by a son, Wayne Horne; his parents, Sadie Lee and Kenneth King Horne; 5 sisters, Laverne Swain, Irene Malloque, Margaret Johnson, Olivia McBrayer and Inis Blair; four brothers, Harold Horne, Ted Horne, Joe Horne, and Olyn Horne.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Shirley Palmer Horne of Noxapater; a daughter, Linda Horne Neislein of Noxapater; six grandchildren, Liz Neislein, Max Neislein, Ryan Horne, Jessica Horne, Jeremy Hagan, and Jamie Hagan; two great grandchildren, McKenzie Horne and Bailey Horne; and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Max Neislein, Ryan Horne, Jamie Hagan, Richard Blair, H. B. Maxey, Jr., and Bobby Ellis.
