Roy Etheridge
Mr. Roy Etheridge, 87, died Thursday, April 13, 2017, at his home in the Gum Branch community. A graveside service will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Saturday, April 15th, at Enon Cemetery in Ackerman, with his nephew, Rev. Clark Byram officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. at Porter Funeral Home. Interment will be in Enon Cemetery in Ackerman, MS. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Roy was born October 19, 1929, in Louisville, MS. He and his wife owned and operated the Winston County Co-op for many years in Louisville, where he met every customer with a smile and some of his fresh roasted peanuts. He was a Navy veteran, and a member of Gum Branch Baptist Church, where he served as deacon and choir director.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Audrey and Rudy C. Etheridge; two sisters, Irene McKnight and Iris Cox; and two brothers, Edwin Etheridge and Dennis “Doc” Etheridge.
Roy is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ann Hemphill Etheridge of Louisville; a daughter, Beth (Rusty) Mitchell of Louisville; a son, David (Stephanie) Etheridge of Louisville; three grandchildren, Stephen (Jessica) Mitchell, Andrew Mitchell, and Brittany Etheridge (Wil) Lipsey; and one great grandchild, Henry Carter Mitchell.
Pallbearers will be Wil Lipsey, Barry Howard, Billy Joe Carter, Mark Colson, Matt Moehring, and Quinton Stevenson.
