William “Fred” Reed

William “Fred” Reed, 85, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, December 16, 2015, at Louisville Healthcare in Louisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 18, 2015, in the Nowell Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Glynn Barker and Rev. Fred Frazier officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service from 9 a.m. until service time at Nowell Massey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.


Mr. Reed was born May 11, 1930, to John Albert and Affie Weaver Reed. He was a member of First Apostolic Church of Louisville; and he was retired from Georgia Pacific. He answered the call of his country by serving in the Korean War.

Fred is survived by his wife of 58 years, Nardah Reed; and by three children: Alan Reed and wife, Lynda; Judy Jackson all of Louisville; and Luann Mitchell and husband, Mark, of Starkville, Mississippi. One of his greatest joys was his seven grandchildren: Scott Reed; Tracey Holder (Van); Ben Jackson (Maralyn); Jenna Chaney (Seth); Hannah Hill; Austin Hill (Amber); and Bryce Mitchell. Also left to mourn his passing is four great-grandchildren: Brantlie Sheets; Blake Sheets; Nikki Reed; and Noah Pearson. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Lula Mae Hill and Mable Reed; and two brothers, Milton and Clinton Reed.






Serving as pallbearers will be Austin Hill, Ben Jackson, Bryce Mitchell, Scott Reed, Blake Sheets, and Jamie Sherwood. Memorials may be given to Missionary Mary Mitchell, c/o First Apostolic Church, 118 E. John C. Stennis Drive, Louisville, MS 39339.
