Walter Buford Dempsey, 84,
passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2015, at Louisville Healthcare in Louisville,
Mississippi. Visitation will be Friday,
May 15, 2015, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in
Louisville, Mississippi. Funeral services
will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2015, in the Nowell-Massey Funeral
Home with Rev. Allen Eaves and Sis. Minnie Selma Dempsey officiating. Interment will follow in Welcome Chapel Jesus
Name Church Cemetery.
Mr. Dempsey was born on November 19, 1930, to Rev. Austil and Vera Mae Owens Dempsey. He was a member of Welcome Chapel Pentecostal Church and was retired from Georgia Pacific Corporation where he worked as a machinist.
Buford is survived by five
daughters, Sylvia Richardson and husband, Curtis of Louisville; Elsie
Cumberland and husband, Steve, of Philadelphia, Mississippi; Virginia Roberts
of Jackson, Mississippi; Cheryl Dempsey of Pelahatchie, Mississippi; and Janice
Smith of Flora, Mississippi. He is also
survived by his sister, Gladys Eubanks; and two brothers, Kenneth Dempsey and
wife, Linda; and Connie Dempsey and wife, Diane; all of Louisville. He had
11 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren. Mr. Dempsey was preceded in death by his
wife, Inez Dempsey; son, Walter E. Dempsey; his parents; and two brothers,
Silas and Roger Dempsey.
Serving as pallbearers will be Steve Cumberland, Chucky Dempsey, Michael Dempsey, Scotty Dempsey, Troy Dempsey, and Corey Richardson.
