Ruel Alton Conn, Sr., 72, passed away surrounded by his
loving family on Saturday, March 14, 2015, at his residence in Louisville,
Mississippi. Visitation will be Tuesday,
March 17, 2015, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in
Louisville. Funeral services will be
held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2015, in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home
Chapel with Rev. David Keen and Rev. Dewayne Kelsey officiating. Interment will follow in Yellow Creek Cemetery
with Rev. Dewayne Kelsey and Dr. Mike Smith officiating.
Mr. Conn was born in Noxubee County, on January 9, 1943. He was a member of Yellow Creek Baptist Church;
and in 2005 he retired from Choctaw Glove in Noxapater.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Christine Hamm Conn
of Louisville; and by four daughters: Shirley
Kelsey and husband, Bro. Dewayne, of Louisville; Betty Lee, of Louisville; Judy
Nowell and husband, Joseph, of Collinsville, Mississippi; and Shelia White and
husband, Scottie, also of Louisville; and by his son, Alton Conn, Jr. of
Austin, Texas. He was “Papaw” to six
grandchildren: Billy Green, Nicky Green,
Nathan Ratcliff, Kayla White, Ragan Stevens and Jenna Nowell; and one
great-grandson, Brayden Ratcliff. Alton is
also survived by two brothers, Hubert Conn and wife, Trudy; and Paul Conn and
wife, Debbie; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mr. Conn is preceded in death by his mother,
Freddie Conn; and his son, Curtis Conn.
