John Dee Rosamond

Mr. John Dee Rosamond, 79, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2014, at his residence in Louisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held at2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2014, in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Vernell Daniels officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home from 11 a.m. until service time.

Mr. Rosamond was born August 16, 1934, to Sarah Florence Palmer Rosamond and James Vardaman Rosamond. He was a member of Dry Creek Baptist Church of Preston; and was retired from the United States Postal Service after serving as Postmaster at Gholson, Mississippi. He answered the call of his country by serving in the United States Army during the Korean War and in the Air Force Reserve for many years. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans.

He is survived by his daughters, Patricia Collins and husband, Laverne, of Saltillo, Mississippi; and Margaret Sanborn ofNoxapater, Mississippi. Mr. Rosamond is also survived by two brothers, Randall Rosamond, and wife, Mary, of Columbus,Mississippi; and Mike Rosamond of the Butler Community. He has four grandchildren: Amy Collins Ferguson and husband, Lane, of Saltillo; Carla Collins Elkins and husband, Lance, of Clarksville, Tennessee; Judd and Jennifer Sanborn of Noxapater; and Lacey Sanborn Dunlap and husband, Daniel, of Hernando, Mississippi; He also has eight great-grandchildren: Josh, Collin, and Allyssa Ferguson; Will and Parker Elkins; Kaitlyn and Logan Sanborn; and Coleman Dunlap. Mr. Rosamond was preceded in death by three brothers, James Rosamond; Benny Alvin Rosamond; and Billy (William C.) Rosamond; his sister, Sarah Ann (Rosamond) Presley; his son-in-law, Keith Sanborn; and his parents.

Serving as pallbearers are Jimmy Presley, David Yates, Jeff Rosamond, Judd Sanborn, Josh Ferguson, Collin Ferguson, and Daniel Dunlap.
