Dr. Barry Duval Suber, MD

Dr. Barry Duval Suber, MD, age 68, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2014 at West Florida Hospital in Pensacola, Florida.
He was born March 12, 1946 in Louisville, MS, the youngest son of Horace Lee and Elva Cullens Suber. A 1964 graduate of Louisville High School, he earned his BS degree in chemistry in three years from Mississippi State University and his MD in 1971 from the University of Mississippi Medical School. After the completion of a rotating internship at Mobile General Hospital in Mobile, AL, he served a residency in Internal Medicine at the University of South Alabama Medical Center also in Mobile. This was followed by post graduate studies in cardiology at Harvard, pediatrics through Duke University, and emergency medicine at John Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD. He practiced internal medicine in Natchez, MS for fifteen years and spent the last 22 years in Emergency Medicine. Two of those years were served at Sampson County Hospital in Clinton, NC and the remaining twenty at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb, MS.

Dr. Suber married Nancianne Parkes in Louisville, MS on August 26, 1972. They resided in Natchez, MS for 36 years and for the last two years have made their home in Atmore, AL.
An ardent music lover, Dr Suber played trumpet sitting first chair in the Mississippi State Great Maroon Marching Band and being chosen to play taps at President Kennedy's memorial service. He was also an accomplished guitarist and bass player surrounding himself with the sounds of music his entire life. An avid backpacker and outdoorsman, he hiked the Appalachian Trail and most the trails of the Smokey Mountains with his wife. A hot air balloon enthusiast, he was a devoted supporter of the Great Mississippi River Balloon Race in Natchez, MS and had the honor of flying in the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, the world's largest balloon festival. Perhaps his greatest passion was still the practice of medicine where he will be remembered most for his compassionate and caring nature with patients.

Dr. Suber is preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Elva Suber; a sister, Lynda; and a brother,

Dr Robert Lee Suber, niece Carol Suber; and nephew Robert Lee Suber, Jr.
He is survived by his wife Nancianne Parkes Suber, Atmore, AL; nephew Robert (Margaret) Suber, Beaufort,SC; cousins: Ronnie (Edwina) Hall, Huntsville, AL; Janice Suber (Bob) McNair, Houston, TX; Anne Suber Wilson, Maryville, TN; Billy Giffin, Louisville,MS; Dr. Lee Giffin, Vicksburg, MS; Marsha (Danny) Shields, Houston, TX; and several great nephews and nieces.
Memorial services will be held at a future date. Internment will be in Louisville, MS at the Masonic Cemetery
