Walter Estell Hisaw

Mr. Walter Estell Hisaw, 83, passed away on Friday, September 21, 2012, at his residence in Louisville, Mississippi. Visitation will be at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi, on Sunday, September 23, 2012, from 4 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 24, 2012, in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel in Louisville with Rev. Charles Rook and Rev. Tommy Jones officiating. Interment will be in Crystal Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Hisaw was born December 20, 1928. He was a retired logger and a member of Crystal Ridge Baptist Church. Mr. Hisaw was very busy in his community in many ways such as helping to build the present church building. He received a "Do-Dad" Gold Award for 10 years of service to the Girl's Scouts. He also served by going on two mission trips to Honduras.

He is survived by his wife, Dorthy Elizabeth Sloan Hisaw of Louisville; three sons, Steve Brannon of Niceville, Florida; Timothy Hisaw of Noxapater, Mississippi; and Kenneth Smiley of Lynn Haven, Florida. Mr. Hisaw is also survived by five daughters: Rosemarie Nichols, of Louisville, Mississippi; Karen Baldwin of Lynn Haven, Florida; Marie Swain and Elizabeth Spellman both of Louisville; and Laurie Risher of Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Additionally, Mr. Hisaw is survived by five sisters: Ora Robertson of Kosciusko, Mississippi; Shirley Wilson of Crystal Springs, Mississippi; Joyce Robertson of Chicago, Illinois; Helen Hemphill of Columbus, Mississippi; and Carol Ann McBrayer of Millport, Alabama; as well as one brother, Donnie Joe Hisaw of Louisville, Mississippi. He is also survived by 26 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Mr.Hisaw is preceded in death by his parents, Walter Hubert and Stella Ora Culpepper Hisaw; his daughter, Phyllis Chisholm; his sister, Nancy Brasfield; and two brothers, Grady Carl Hisaw and Johnny Ray Hisaw.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Black, Adam Swain, Steven Brannon, William Spellman, Timothy Hisaw, Matthew Baldwin, and Rick Chisholm. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Ashton Swain. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Tribute Program, P. O. Box 1000 Department 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
