Era Burl Hunt Lampley

Era Burl Hunt Lampley passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at her home in Magee, Mississippi. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9 at Hopewell Baptist Church in McCool, Mississippi. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 9 at Hopewell Baptist Church with Reverend Roger Griffith officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service in Hopewell Church Cemetery.

Burl was born October 29, 1933, to Thomas and Exie Hunt in Mississippi. She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church. Burl worked as a desk clerk at the Admiral Retirement Center in Jackson, Mississippi, until she was 80 years old! She dearly loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.

Burl is survived by her children: Lisa Stovall (Jamie), Jean Mott (Johnny) and Dan Miller. One of her greatest joys was being “MawMaw” to her grandchildren: Dana Sports, LaGena Holbrook, Becky Alawine, Scott Miller, Diane Birkley (Kirk), James Stovall, Jesse Stovall, and Cynthia Stovall; and her great-grandchildren: McKinlee Sports, Harleigh Sports, Brantley Sports, Micheala Alawine, Bria Birkley, Aaron Birkley, Jordan Birkley, and Rider Miller. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law, Joy Hunt; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers; Victor and Leonard Hunt; her sister, Dean Beech; daughter-in-law, Charlene Miller; and son-in-law, Jack Barnett.

Serving as pallbearers are Jamie Stovall, James Stovall, Mike Alawine, Redd Hardy, Rider Miller, Scott Miller, and Cameron Parr. Honorary pallbearers are Will Belk and Brantley Sports.
