Emma Elizabeth “Frankie” McKenzie, 97, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Monday, February 10, 2020, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi. Funeral services will be Thursday, February 13, 2020, at 2 p.m. in the Nowell Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Hubert Yates officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service from 1 p.m. until service time at Nowell Massey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Beth Eden Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Frankie was born June 26, 1922, to Fant and Flora Pace Fancher in Columbus, Mississippi. She dearly loved her church family at First Baptist Church where she was an active member until her health prevented her from driving; she especially enjoyed her Sunday school class. She also enjoyed attending Wess Chapel Baptist Church. She was given the nickname “Frankie” by her grandfather and from then on that is what she was called. In 1979, Frankie married Howard McKenzie and moved to Louisville. She worked for 4-County Electric Power Association and then Mississippi State University until her retirement.
Ms. Frankie is survived by her son, George Donald Miller, Jr. of Starkville, Mississippi; and three daughters Gloria Johns, Ann Cobb, and Shirley Whiteside. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law Martha H. Fancher; her nieces Beth Cook and Nancy (Mike) McClain; and three great-nephews: John, Taylor, and Curtis McClain. Frankie was preceded in death by her husbands Howard McKenzie; George Donald Miller, Sr.; and Chauncey Morris; her daughter Grace Marie Miller; her parents; two sisters Clara Grace Copeland and Willie Jean Smith; and her brother Fant Gordon Fancher, Jr.
Serving as pallbearers are Bart Chancellor, Clay Chancellor, Johnny Moorhead, and Joey Partridge.
