Kent was born on January 6, 1944, in Louisville, MS. He was a graduate of Louisville High School, and was a veteran of the U. S. Navy. He retired after many years as a mail carrier with the U. S. Postal Service, and was a member of First Methodist Church. Kent was well known for his Sunday Morning Gospel program that he hosted for many years on WLSM radio in Louisville.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lillian Renea Roberts; and his parents, Dossie and Christine Roberts.
He is survived by a daughter, Misty Michelle Roberts of Ofallon, MO; a sister, Genia Roberts Dufour of Sevierville, TN; brothers, Robin Roberts of Louisville, John Larry Roberts of Eustis, FL, and Dossie Steven Roberts of Columbia, MO; and two grandchildren, Gordon Russell (Addie) Butts and Jonathan Ryan (Megan) Butts.
