Thomas “Sonny Boy” Robbins, age 79, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Monday, March 18, 2019, at Winston Medical Center in Louisville, Mississippi. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 19, 2019, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Nowell Massey Funeral Home in Louisville. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 20, in the Nowell Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Allen Eaves and Rev. Jason Gross officiating. Interment will follow in Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
Sonny Boy was born July 20, 1939, to John Ben and Needham Moore Robbins in Winston County. He was a member of Ebenezer Pentecostal Church and was a welder at Taylor Machine Works. Sonny Boy enjoyed any outdoor activity especially fishing and picking up pecans. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He answered the call of his country by serving six years in the Army National Guard.
Sonny Boy is survived by his wife of 59 years, Faye Strait Robbins; and two daughters Lisa Hopkins and Linda Dalton and husband Jim all of Louisville. One of his greatest joys was being “Baby” to his five grandchildren: Elizabeth Dalton; Tanner (Chancee) Dalton; Chad Dalton; Tony Dalton; and Angie Seim. He also leaves behind to mourn his passing four siblings: James (Marie) Robbins; Barbara Fulcher; Rebecca (Aaron) Williamson; and Geniva Walker. He is preceded in death by his parents; and five siblings J. P. Robbins, J. L. Robbins, Bonnie Walker Triplett, Myrtis Bates, and Joy Gressinger.
Serving as pallbearers are Dan Eaves, Phillip Eaves, Gerald Ray Goodin, Willis Jones, Bobby Moody, Chris Moody, Wayne Moody, Coley Taylor, Terry Vernon, Cole White, and Danny White.
The family requests that memorials be given to Ebenezer Pentecostal Church Building Fund, c/o Earnestine Lee, 2232 Ebenezer Church Road, Preston, MS 39354 to be used toward the construction of their new church building.
