Services for Charles “Chuck” Hazelwood will be held Sunday, January 13, 2019, at 3:30 p.m. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Rev. Dennis Duvall and Rev. Neil Chadwick officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Creek Cemetery in Neshoba County. Visitation will be held Saturday, January 12, 2019, from 5 until 8 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Home. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hazelwood, 69, of Philadelphia, died Thursday, January 10, 2019, at his home.
A native of Louisville, MS, and longtime resident of Neshoba County, he worked as Lake Manager at Neshoba Lake for MWFP. He served in the U. S. Air Force in Vietnam and later in the Army National Guard. Mr. Hazelwood was a member of Grace Baptist Church and attended Lighthouse Church. He taught firearm training, hunter safety courses; and loved all kinds of outdoor activities. He was a former Boy Scout Leader and 4-H Sport Fishing Instructor.
Survivors include wife, Sherry Hazelwood of Philadelphia; daughter, Melissa Thompson of Philadelphia; sons, Wesley Hazelwood (Jerica) of Philadelphia, Cody Kilgore; three grandchildren, Emma Hazelwood, Lillie Thompson and Evan Boatner; sister, Dorothy Haberle of Philadelphia; numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
Mr. Hazelwood was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Ted Hazelwood.
Pallbearers are Douglas Walker, Tim Hardy, Archie Woodson, Doug Strickland, Jerry Beckham and Lewis James.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Foundation of the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, Parks for a Chuck Hazelwood Memorial Structure at Neshoba Lake.
