Hildreth Price Woodward

Hildreth Price Woodward, 90, passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2018, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Braselton, Georgia. Visitation will be Friday, December 28, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Nowell Massey Funeral Home in Louisville. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2018, in the Nowell Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Stacey Parvin officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Hildreth was born in Lena, Mississippi, on October 22, 1928, to Houston and Otis Anderson Price. Her mom passed away when Hildreth was two years old and she later had a “bonus” mom Mary Sparkman Price. At the age of 16 she graduated from Lena High School. From there she attended the “W”…Mississippi University for Women. After she graduated, with a major in Home Economics, she moved to New Albany, Mississippi, as the Assistant 4-H Leader. Her next move was to Ripley, Mississippi, where she also served as the Home Demonstration Agent. Finally she ended up in Louisville, Mississippi, as the Home Demonstration Agent for Winston County. Later, she would be hired by the Mississippi Department of Welfare as a Social Worker where she worked for almost 30 years. In 1957, she married Jack Woodward. They were active members of Whitehall United Methodist Church where she served as choir director and pianist. Hildreth loved to travel and meet new people and stay in touch with old friends. Jack was a POW in World War II so they traveled to all of the POW Reunions.

Hildreth is survived by her daughter Neah Kathryn Woodward Bryan and husband Jennings of Flowery Branch, Georgia; and her daughter-in-law, Ada Hancock Woodward; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Woodward; her son Richard Hall Woodward; her parents; her “bonus” mom; and her sister Loretta Price Thomas.

Serving as pallbearers are Wade Dempsey, David Gully, Dalton Luke, David Luke, Jeffrey Woodward, and John Woodward.
