Helen Richardson

Helen Richardson, 90, passed away surrounded by her loving daughters on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at Noxubee County Nursing Home in Macon, Mississippi. Visitation will be Thursday, July 19, 2018, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Nowell Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 20, 2018, in the Nowell Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Ross officiating. Interment will follow in Mashulaville Baptist Church Cemetery.


Helen was born June 30, 1928, to Willie Alex and Edna Adcock Reed in Winston County. She was a member of Mashulaville Baptist Church; and she loved any outside activities such as gardening and working in her yard. She also enjoyed quilting and handwork such as knitting and crocheting because she did not believe in “sitting around doing nothing.”

Helen is survived by her daughters: Dorothy White and husband, Bobby, of Louisville; Nancy Robbins and husband, Bobby, of Pickensville, Alabama; and Kathy Crabtree and husband, Rusty; and her daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Richardson of Starkville, Mississippi. One of her greatest joys was being “Maw” and “MawMaw” to her four grandchildren: Danny White (Trena); Toby Robbins (Kathy); Donnie Richardson, Jr.; and Caleb Crabtree. She also leaves behind four great-grandchildren: Cole White; Mallory Robbins; Cy Katherine Robbins; and Rhiannon Eve Herring; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Richardson; her son, Donnie Richardson; her parents; two brothers, C. V. Reed and James Reed; and by three sisters, Dean Freshour, Doug Reed, and Effie Higginbotham.

Serving as pallbearers are Michael Chappell, Caleb Crabtree, Donnie Richardson, Jr., Toby Robbins, Cole White, and Danny White.

 Memorial contributions in honor of Helen may be given to Mashulaville Baptist Church Cemetery, c/o Eddie Gaylord, 38501 MS Highway 14 West, Macon, MS 39341.
