Erville was born September 24, 1934, in Winston County to Johnny and Ala Sue Stokes Wray. He was a member of Vernon Methodist Church. One of his passions was collecting old John Deere tractors, both real and toy. He would order the parts to repair the tractors and sometimes he would get them repaired and sometimes not! He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them and spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Erville is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty Whitehead Wray; and his daughter, Angela Goodin and husband, Stan, all of Louisville. One of his greatest joys was being “Erville” to his grandchildren: Heather Ming and husband, Marty; and Kayla Dewberry and husband, Chase. Erville also leaves behind four great-grandchildren: Caysen Dewberry, Brody Ming, Stephen Dewberry, and Kinslee Ming; and his sister, Mescal Sullivan. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Joe Wray; and his sisters, Johnnie Dee Rogers, Miriam Womble, and Martha Satterfield.
Serving as pallbearers are Austin Hill, Danny Hill, Carl Noel Stokes, Randy Sullivan, Jessie Whitehead, and Ted Wray. Memorial contributions in honor of Erville may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Tribute Program, P. O. Box 1000 Department 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
