Randy Dempsey

Gary Randall “Randy” Dempsey, age 70, passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at his residence in Ackerman, Mississippi. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 25, 2018, at Nowell Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, March 26, in the Nowell Massey Funeral Home Chapel in Louisville with Rev. Robert Chumley officiating. Interment will follow in Welcome Chapel Jesus Name Church Cemetery.

Randy was born in Louisville on May 13, 1947, to Willard and Betty Joyce Black Dempsey. He was a member of the Highways and Hedges Worship Center in Eupora, Mississippi. He was a retired service technician for Hyster Corporation. Randy enjoyed woodworking and making crafts and many depended upon him for small engine repair.

Randy is survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda Burton Dempsey; and five children: Tony Dempsey and wife, Phyllis, of Ackerman; Donny Dempsey and wife, Dee, of Brandon, Mississippi; Stacy Dempsey also of Ackerman; Robby Dempsey and wife, Misty, of McCool, Mississippi; Rachel Boswell and husband, Donnie, of Weir, Mississippi; and Roy Lewis and wife, Linda, of Columbus. He is also survived by his siblings: Marie Copeland of Mathiston, Mississippi; Rick Dempsey and wife, Amy, of Stewart, Mississippi; Steve Dempsey and wife, Carolyn, also of Stewart; and Deb Tanner of Raymond, Mississippi. One of his greatest joys was being “Papaw” to his 17 grandchildren: Candy Baxter (J. R.); Savannah Thompson (Jamie); Josh Dempsey; Austin Dempsey; Cody Dempsey; Megan Townsend (Chad); Tiffany Fulgham (Trevor); Brittany Kent; Cassity Cole (Billy Joe); Summer Dempsey; Samantha Phelps (Brandon); Cheyenne Dempsey; Donovan Dempsey (Hazel); Samuel Dempsey; Haley Lampard; Abby Lampard; Elijah Lampard; Stephanie Stevens (Crash); Brittany Keene (Brandon); and Trey Lewis (Kyleigh); as well as 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings: Brenda Dempsey; Neal Dempsey; and Bruce Dempsey.

Serving as pallbearers are Austin Dempsey, Cody Dempsey, Donovan Dempsey, Josh Dempsey, Samuel Dempsey, and Elijah Lampard.
