Iora was born April 3, 1927, to George and Supelia Reynolds Spears. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Louisville; and she was retired from Winston County Hospital and Nursing Home where she was the certified Director of Environmental Services.
Ms. Lavergne is survived by two daughters, Sherlene Abrigo and husband, Vicente, of Brandon, Mississippi; and Jennifer Lindsey and husband, Johnny, of Sturgis; and her son, Rifton Lavergne of Eunice, Louisiana. Also left to mourn her passing is her sister-in-law, Virginia Spears of Centerville, Tennessee; and two brothers-in-law, J. B. Lavergne and wife, Alma, of San Diego, California; and Clifton Lavergne of Opelousas, Louisiana. One of her greatest joys was being “Granny” to her 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hilman Lavergne; her parents; her son, Emery Lavergne; her daughter, Joyce Soileau; and two grandsons, Thomas Lee Baker, Jr. and Jacob Wayne Nowell; two brothers, D. L. Spears and Riley E. Spears; and six sisters, Georgia Spears; Arrietta Taylor; Lucille Norris; Neal Burchfield; Ima Cummings; and an infant sister.
Serving as pallbearers will be Billy Needham, Joseph Nowell, Daniel Spears, Lafayette Spears, and Wayne Winters.
