Bobbie Louise Shumaker Black, 80, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, October 16, 2015, at her residence. Visitation will be Sunday, October 18, 2015, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi, and on the day of the service at Doty Springs Baptist Church in Ethel, Mississippi, from 10:30 a.m. until service time. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 19, 2015, at Doty Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Fortenberry officiating. Interment will follow in Doty Springs Cemetery.Bobbie was born October 11, 1935, to Homer and Eddie Pearl Tierce Shumaker. She graduated from Ethel High School in 1953 where she was elected as Class President. She was a member of Doty Springs Baptist Church and she retired as a supervisor from Angelica.
Bobbie is survived by her husband of 55 years, Bobby Dean Black; her son, Barry Dean Black and wife, Helen, all of Louisville; her daughter-in-law, Denice W. Black; and her brother, Wade Shumaker and wife, Sarah, all of Ethel, Mississippi. One of her greatest joys was being “Maw Maw” to her five grandchildren: Linda LaBier, Jamie Black, Joshua Black and wife, Deborah, Carlos Black, and Mary-Katherine Black; as well as three great-grandchildren: Kamrie, Caroline, and Isabella. She was preceded in death by her son, Larry L. Black; and her parents.
Serving as pallbearers will be Carlos Black, Jamie Black, Josh Black, Eli Shumaker, Lee Shumaker, and Max Shumaker. Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association, Mississippi Affiliate, 16 Houston Drive, Suite 100, Jackson, MS 39211-3058.
