Funeral service for Mr. Gaines Arden Blount will be held 3 PM Wed., Sept. 30, 2015 at John E. Stephens Chapel with Dr. Wayne Hill and Rev. Tony Lindley officiating. Interment will be in Mars Hill Cemetery in Winston County. John E. Stephens Chapel Funeral Services is in charge. Mr. Blount, 83, passed away Monday, Sept. 28, 2015 at his residence.
He lived in the Mars Hill Community most of his life was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a retired rural mail carrier with United States Postal Service. Mr.Blount was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, where he served many years as deacon. His hobbies include, farming and bluegrass music. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Blount and Mary Jane Sisson Blount; wife, Elaine Newman Blount(2002).
Survivors are his daughters, Trudy King of Philadelphia and Beverly Whitehead of Louisville; son, Ken Blount of Philadelphia; (2) grandchildren; (4) great-grandchildren.
