Mrs. Mavis Ward, 90, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at Winston Medical Center in Louisville, Mississippi. Visitation will be Thursday, June 13, 2013, from 5:00 p.m.until 8 p.m. at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville. Funeral services will be held at11:00 a.m. in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, June 14, 2013, with Rev. Justin Wilcher officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Ward was born on April 21, 1923, to Millard and Mary Elma Johnston Seward. She was a member of the Church of Christ and a homemaker.
She is survived by three daughters: Jessie Mae Watts, Gladys Kirk, and Linda Bateman all of Louisville; two sisters, Lottie Winstead and Eveyleen Kidnocker; and two brothers, Gilbert Seward and Rufus Seward all of Philadelphia, Mississippi. Mrs. Ward is survived by two grandchildren and by three great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Luther “Pete” Ward and her parents.
