Jean Kemp

Mrs. Jean Kemp, 85, formerly of Louisville, passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2013, at her residence in Pearl, Mississippi. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 27, 2013, in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Grady Bailey, Jr., officiating. Interment will be in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.

Born on April 27, 1927, Jean was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Jackson, Mississippi, and she retired after working in the Diagnostic Lab for the United States Department of Agriculture.

Mrs. Kemp is survived by her husband, Lamar Kemp of Pearl; her sisters, Dean Singleton of Starkville, Mississippi; Mary Chaffin and Kate Peterson Thomas both of Sturgis, Mississippi; her sisters-in-law, Dot Dawkins of Starkville and Faye Shook of Sturgis; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Virginia Kemp; her parents, William and Deva Froshour Dawkins; and three brothers: Donald Hugh Dawkins; Frank Dawkins; and Fred Dawkins.
