Mr. Norris D. Ward, 87, passed away on November 11, 2012, in the State Veteran’s Home in Kosciusko, Mississippi. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 13, 2012, from 9 a.m. until service time at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, November 13, 2012, with Rev. Billy Bowie officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Ward was born on August 29, 1925, to Earl and Ethel Cannon Ward. He was a member of First Baptist Church and he answered the call to serve his country in the Marine Corp during World War II. He retired as a rural mail carrier after 37 years of service with the United States Postal Service.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ouida Ward of Louisville, Mississippi; his sister, Earline Martin of Lucedale, Mississippi; his brother, Henry Ward of Shreveport, Louisiana; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Mr. Ward was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Etoil Ward.
Pallbearers will be Gary Mayo, Jeremy Cummins, Gary Hillhouse, Grady Jackson, Bobby Shields, and Larry King. The family requests that memorials be given to the State Veteran’s Home, 310 Autumn Ridge Drive, Kosciusko, MS 39090 or to the First Baptist Church Bus Fund, P. O. Box 547,Louisville, MS 39339.
