James Edward “Jimmy” Eaves, 69, passed away on Monday, December 25, 2023, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi. Funeral services will be 12 p.m. Thursday, December 28 in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Hiram Eaves and Reverend Mark Shaw officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m. until service time. Interment will immediately follow the service in Murphy Creek Cemetery.
Jimmy was born in Louisville, Mississippi, on July 6, 1954, to Harvey and Autence Reed Eaves. He was an active member of Barnett Independent Church in Pachuta, Mississippi, where he enjoyed singing. Jimmy was a truck driver for many years.
Jimmy is survived by his sister, Betty Hatcher of Louisville; his sister-in-law, Rilda Eaves of Moselle, Mississippi; and two brothers-in-law, Clarence Kelley and Ronnie Woodruff both of Louisville. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings: Dot Nance, Garland Eaves, Garvis Eaves, Glynda Woodruff, and Barbara Kelley.
Serving as pallbearers are Chris Eaves, Tony Fulton, Virgil Rodgers, Ken Schooler, Austin Shaw, Tayler Yarbrough, and Tyler Yarbrough. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials in honor of Jimmy be given to Nowell-Massey Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.
