Evelyn Jewel Lewis Ingram, 92, passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at her home in Noxapater, Mississippi, surrounded by those who dearly loved her. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, October 7 in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel in Louisville, Mississippi, with Reverend Jeff Gardner officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service at the funeral home from 12 p.m. until service time. Interment will immediately follow the service in Liberty Cemetery in Noxapater.
Jewel was born in Greene County, Mississippi, on January 24, 1931, to Jordan and Jessie Lee Hillman Lewis. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church where she actively served in WMU, as superintendent of Vacation Bible School for many years, and as a Sunday school teacher. Jewel was a homemaker focusing on her children as well as children in the community.
Jewel is survived by her four children: Max Ammon Ingram and wife, Marylou, of Noxapater; Barney Ingram and wife, Renee, of Hot Springs, Arkansas; Ray Ingram and wife, Wanda, of Morton, Mississippi; and Evelyn Ingram Robinson and husband, Mark, also of Noxapater. One of her greatest joys was being “Mamaw” to her 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Max Ingram; an infant son; her parents; and 10 siblings.
