Robert Hailey

Robert Wade Hailey, age 81, passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at his residence with his loving family by his side. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. on Friday, July 15 in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jason Gross and Rev. Becky Smith officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service from 12 p.m. until service time at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi. Interment will immediately follow the service in Hailey-Richey Cemetery in Noxubee County.

Robert was born January 4, 1941, to J. T. and Alice Scarbrough Hailey. He was a member of Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church where for many years, he served as the music director. Robert graduated from Wood Junior College and later from Mississippi State University with a degree in Industrial Technology. He worked at U. S. Motors in Philadelphia for many years and eventually came home to farm. Robert enjoyed working on the farm, growing crops and he especially enjoyed working his cows. He loved anything Nanih Waiya school and community. Robert enjoyed deer hunting and he served on the board of Farm Bureau.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Peggy Triplett Hailey of Louisville, and his children: Malcolm Hailey and wife Mandy of Louisville, Allen Hailey and wife Ann of Preston, and Belynda Luke and husband Chip also of Preston. One of his greatest joys was being “Paw” to his six grandchildren: Laura Beth Hailey, Tanner Luke, Mallory (Kyle) Reynolds, Harley Pullin, Tatum Luke and Kady Rose Hailey; as well as his great-granddaughter Layton Reynolds whom he called “Buster”. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Lamar Hailey.

Serving as pallbearers are Allen Hailey, Tanner Luke, Tatum Luke, Timmy Ming, Chris Moody, and Ricky Patterson. Honorary pallbearers are Wade Hailey, Tommy Jackson, Derrell Ming, Bobby Moody, Raymond Reed, Donnie Triplett, Johnny Triplett, and the staff of Quality Hospice in Philadelphia, Mississippi.
