Tim Palmer

Timothy “Tim” Palmer, age 62, passed away at The University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi, on Friday evening, September 4, 2020. Funeral services will be held at Murphy Creek Baptist Church on Monday, September 7 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Mark Mayo officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service from 9 a.m. until service time at the church. Graveside services and interment will follow in Murphy Creek Cemetery. The family encourages everyone to follow COVID-19 precautions.

Tim was born August 31, 1958, to Robert Noah and Dorothy Stallsby Palmer in Louisville, Mississippi. Tim is a member of Murphy Creek Baptist Church where he has served as a deacon for many years. He graduated from William Carey University with a degree in Criminal Justice. Tim began his career as a police officer in Petal, Mississippi. He later served with the Louisville Police Department and retired as Warden from the Winston-Choctaw County Correctional Facility. He also served as a warden for the Choctaw Indian Reservation. Tim also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Tim is survived by his loving wife of 40 years Tina Morris Palmer of Louisville. He is also survived by his two children: Shaun Palmer and wife Jessie also of Louisville, and Shannon Palmer of Noxapater. Also left to mourn his passing is his sister Sandra Ray of Marietta, Georgia, and two brothers: Ronnie (Phyllis) Palmer of Louisville and Tony (Lori) Palmer of Columbus, Mississippi. One of his greatest joys was being “Pop” to his granddaughter Lucy and he was looking forward to the birth of a grandson in January 2021. Tim was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers: Bob and Paul Palmer.

Serving as pallbearers are the deacons and prospective deacons of Murphy Creek Baptist Church: Gary Boatner, Leslie Charlton, Mike Eaves, Rusty Foster, Rusty Hanna, Neil Higgason, Ricky Miller, Marty Ming, Steve Palmer, Brett Smith, Dustin Smith, Junior Stewart, and Chris Triplett.

 Memorial contributions in honor of Tim may be given to Murphy Creek Baptist Church Missions Fund, 5420 Bond Road, Louisville, MS 39339.
