Ralph Sciple

Mr. Ralph Sciple, 79, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Monday, January 2, 2017, at John C. Stennis Hospital in DeKalb, Mississippi. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 4, 2017, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Nowell Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2017, at Lynville Methodist Church in Preston, Mississippi, with Rev. Chris Gully and Rev. Gerald Butler officiating. Interment will follow in Chamberlin Cemetery on Kellis Store Road.


Ralph was born April 4, 1937, to John Chester and Lora Robinson Sciple in Kemper County, Mississippi. He was a member of First Methodist Church of Shuqualak and he attended Lynville Methodist Church of Preston. He retired as a heavy equipment operator; he enjoyed reading and woodworking but he especially loved spending time with his family.

Ralph is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dean Patterson Sciple; his daughter, Peggy Davis, both of Preston; and two sons, Bobby Sciple and wife, Melinda, of Scooba, Mississippi; and Jimmy Sciple and wife, Lisa, of the Nanih Waiya community. He is also survived by his sister, Bonnie Shouse and his brother, Ronald Sciple and wife, Shirley. One of his greatest joys was being “Paw Paw” to his seven grandchildren: Brody Sciple; Brent Sciple; Bridget Moore and husband, Daniel; Christopher Sciple; Christina Vernon and husband, Kyle; Dustin Davis; and Heather Higginbotham and husband, Mike; as well as two great-grandchildren, Addison and Allie Moore. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, J. G. Sciple and Armond Sciple; and two sisters, Helen Clark and Ruby Campbell.

Serving as pallbearers are David Grissom, William Mayo, Michael Patterson, Eddie Sciple, George Terry Sciple, and Ronnie Sciple.

Memorial contributions in honor of Mr. Sciple may be given to Lynville Methodist Church, 84 Kellis Store Road, Preston, MS 39354.
