Mrs. Dempsey was born on February 7, 1934, to Lester and Effie Bennett Thrasher. She was a member of First Pentecostal Church of Noxapater and was retired from TRW Manufacturing.
Mary is survived by her husband of 65 years, J. R. Dempsey; her son, Rev. Jimmy Dempsey and wife, Angie, all of Louisville; and two daughters, Jan Richardson also of Louisville; and Sharon Davis and husband, Terry, of Weir, Mississippi. One of her greatest joys was being “Mamaw” to her three grandchildren: Kimberly Ingram and husband, Stephen; Kayla Dempsey; and Matthew Davis and wife, Lauren; as well as two great-grandchildren, Grayson Ingram and Tristan Davis. Mrs. Dempsey was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Blair and Lamar Thrasher.
Serving as pallbearers will be Matthew Davis, Terry Davis, Brett Kitchens, Chad Kitchens, and Brandon Stovall. Memorials may be given to West End Baptist Church, 79 Old Robinson Road, Louisville, MS 39339
