James Edsel Todd

Mr. James Edsel Todd, 88, died Saturday, September 13, 2014, at Neshoba General Hospital in Philadelphia, MS. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, Sept. 15th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Billy Bowie officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 12:00 PM until service time at Porter Funeral Home.
 
Edsel was born in Winston County on September 20,, 1925. He was the son of Robert and Siddie Todd, who preceded in him in death. He was a graduate of Noxapater High School. Having joined the Navy in 1943, he served aboard the LCT1299 for 3 years. He was awarded the American Campaign Medal and World War II Victory Medal. He also served in the New Guinea Campaign as well as the Allied Campaign in the South West Pacific area.

 Edsel was employed at both Bill Breed and Brunt-Ward Chevrolet for 40 years. He was a member of First Baptist of Louisville, was a 50 years Mason, and was a member of the American Legion for 61 years. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty Jo Todd of Louisville; a daughter, Kathy Callahan of Columbus; a granddaughter, Kristine (Jordy) Jaynes of Columbus, ; a grandson, Scott Callahan of Phoenix, Arizona; one great granddaughter; a brother, Howard Todd of Philadelphia, MS; a sister, Sybil Coward of Noxapater; eleven nephews, and five nieces.

 Pallbearers are Jerry Coward, Donnie Todd, Scott Callahan, Danny Coward, Jordy Jaynes, and Speedy Calvert.
