John Polatsidis

Mr. John Polatsidis, 54, passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2013, at his residence in Louisville, Mississippi. Visitation will be at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home inLouisville on Monday, September 9, 2013, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 10, 2013, in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Keen officiating. Interment will be in Bethel Cemetery.

John was born on August 8, 1959, to Theodore and Maria Sfetsou Polatsidis in Kalithea,Greece. For the last seven years, he was a Senior NDI Specialist with DynCorp, which recently became L-3 Vertex Logistics Solution, at Columbus Air Force Base. John attendedBethel Baptist Church and he served four years in the United States Air Force. He was the biggest New York Yankees fan in the world…always commenting that “before we were anything, we were Yankee fans!”

He is survived by his mother, Maria Polatsidis of Greece; his daughters: Maria Sventek and husband, Drew, of Jacksonville, Arkansas, Megan Polatsidis of Ogden, Utah, Brandy Fuller and husband, Robby, and Katie Ainsworth and husband, Jamie, all of Louisville; and his son, Jimmy Polatsidis of Jacksonville, Arkansas. He is also survived by his sister, Rosa Aggelatos and husband, Spiro, of Greece and his brother, Steve Polatsidis and wife, Caroline, of Queens, New York. John has six grandchildren: Damon Sventek, Brendan Sventek, Mason Polatsidis, Jacey Fuller, Ethan Thomas, and Zoe Ainsworth. He is preceded in death by his wife, Sherry Polatsidis and his father, Theodore Polatsidis.

Pallbearers will be Steve Polatsidis, Jimmy Polatsidis, Robby Fuller, Ernie Surunis, Drew Sventek, and Clint Moore. The family requests that memorials be given to the Wounded Warriors Project, P.O.
