Mildred Spears

Mrs. Mildred Spears, 90, passed away on Monday, January 7, 2013, at Winston Medical Center Nursing Home in Louisville, Mississippi. Visitation will be at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi, on Wednesday, January 9, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 10, 2013, in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Scott Boatner officiating. Interment will follow in Spears Family Cemetery.


Born on April 4, 1922, Mrs. Spears was a member of Bethlehem Pentecostal Church, and she was a homemaker.

Mrs. Spears is survived by four daughters: Reba C. Edwards (Lamar), Retha Ann Black (Charlie L.), Linda Joyce Purvis all of Louisville, and Eldean Richardson (Sid) of Raleigh, Mississippi; and two sons: Garvis McCoy Spears (Rhonda) of Braxton, Mississippi, and Derral Spears (Wendy) of Philadelphia, Mississippi. She is also survived by three sisters: Wanda Ray of Sebastopol, Mississippi, Nelda Watts of McCool, Mississippi, and Myrna Sue Sherock of Union, Mississippi; and two brothers: Jay Ray Williamson (Sharon) of Houston, Texas, and George Williamson, Jr. (Mary) of Philadelphia. She has 172 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Mervin Lee Spears; three sons: Edmond L. Spears, Dorvis EarlSpears, and George Nathan Spears; one daughter, Hattie Delene Spears; a grandson, Ronnie Dale White; her parents, George and Hattie Gentry Williamson; three sisters; and two brothers.
