Glendon "Skinny" Smith


Mr. Glendon “Skinny” Smith, 89, passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2012, at his residence in LouisvilleMississippi.  Visitation will be Wednesday, October 24, 2012, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in LouisvilleMississippi.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 25, 2012, in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel Rev. Eddie Painter and Rev. Tim Horton officiating.  Interment will be in Ellison Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.  
Mr. Smith was born on December 10, 1922.  He was a member of Ellison Ridge Baptist Church and a retired supervisor with DeSoto Furniture in CantonMississippi.  After his retirement, he worked for the City of Canton and later as a part-time guard for Georgia Pacific Corporation in Louisville.  He answered the call of his country during World War II by serving in the United States Army.  
Mr. Smith is survived by his daughter-in-law, Kathy Smith Carr and husband, Dewane; and his sister, Maxine Houston all of LouisvilleMississippi.  He also has two grandchildren:  Brian Keith Smith and wife, Cristina, of Fort LauderdaleFlorida; and Felecia Jackson of SouthavenMississippi, as well as, three great-grandchildren:  Cody Jackson, Kennedy Jackson, and Olivia Smith.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Hemphill Smith; two sons, Jerry Wayne Smith and Byron Glenn Smith; and his parents, John Estol and Nettie Smith.
Pallbearers will be Keith Smith, Mitch Sanders, Larry Cockrell, and Wayne Haggard.  Serving as honorary pallbearers will be members of the McDonald’s Coffee Crew.
