Wesley Dempsey

Mr. Wesley Elton Dempsey, 85, died Sunday, December 26th, at State Veterans Home in Oxford , MS. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 29th, at 1:00 P.M. at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Stacy Parvin officiating. Interment will be in Whitehall Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Mr. Dempsey was born August 20th, 1925, in Winston County. He was a retired construction worker. He was an Army veteran, a Shriner, and a member of Whitehall United Methodist Church. After serving his country in WWII he was awarded The Bronze Star and The Purple Heart. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Dee Smith Dempsey, two brothers, Curtis Dempsey and William Dempsey, three sisters, Janie Pearson, Earlene McAulife, and Lena Mae Horton. He is survived by his son, Wayne Dempsey of Houston, MS, a brother, Bobby Bryce Dempsey of Louisville, MS, two sisters, Lucille Alexander of Columbus, MS and Brentis Alexander of Columbus, MS, three grandchildren, David Wayne Dempsey, Jennifer Ann Ramage, and John Elton Dempsey, four great grandchildren, Logan Elias Dempsey, Natalie Ann Dempsey, Cooper Wilson Dempsey, and Jonathan Alexander Dempsey. Memorials may be made to Whitehall United Methodist Church.
