Mary Hodge Darby

 Mrs. Mary Hodge Darby, 92, passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at her home in Noxapater, MS. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, July 25th, at Noxapater Methodist Church, with Rev. Sara Windham officiating. Mary was born November 23, 1932, in Noxapater to Elsie Mae and Hayward Hodge. She was a graduate of Noxapater High School, and was a homemaker. She was a faithful member of Noxapater Methodist Church, where she was very active in every ministry of the church.She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Paul Darby.

Mary is survived by three sons, Paul (Leesa) Darby of Noxapater, John Walter Darby of Noxapater, and Timothy (Deedee) Darby of Aluacha, FL; six grandchildren, Matthew (Emily) Darby, Shay (Shelley) Darby, Zachary (Kori) Darby, Ashley Darby, Cameron (Devon) Darby, and Chase (Alise) Darby; and her grandchildren, Kooper Darby, Charlee Darby, Kye Darby, Lakelyn Darby, Koah Darby, Logan Darby, and Harper and Finley Macarages.

John DePriest

John DePriest (64) peacefully left this life for his eternal home Monday, July 21st, 2025.John was a hard working, kind hearted, person who leaves behind a loving, dedicated wife Meg, his son Dustin, daughter-in-law Katie, his father Millard DePriest, his sister Jana Larson, brother-in-law Kevin, and grandsons, Dax and Briggs. John was preceded in death by his mother Dorothy “Dot” DePriest. He was a member of Bethlehem Church in Starkville, Ms. He was a dedicated employee of Taylor Machine Works and enjoyed hunting and farming with his grandfather J.T. Reed and family.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Leoza Culberson and Karon Culberson; siblings, Willie Davis, Vard Lee Davis, Frank Culberson, Leroy Culberson, James Otis Steele, Lola Harrington, Phyllis Glass, Gloria young, Carolyn Lynch and Mary Culberson.

Linda is survived by; husband, Lester Billups; children; Leslie Gill Odetunde and Danielle Billups; grandchildren, Deshuna Culberson, Shekira Gill and Dantavius Triplett; great grand child, Kazleigh Jackson; siblings, Karen Kirk (Edward), Freddie Davis, Keith Culberson and Erma Culberson; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and family.

Jerry Kelley Nance

Mr. Jerry Kelley Nance, 75, passed away on Friday, July 18, 2025, at Winston Medical Center in Louisville, MS. Funeral services will be held at First Methodist Church at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, July 21st, with Rev. Damon Williams and Rev. Mike Childs officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. at First Methodist Church. Interment will be in Ellison Ridge Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Jerry was born August 14, 1949 in Louisville, MS to R. B. and Modine Kelley Nance. He was a 1967 graduate of Louisville High School where he was a student bus driver. He attended East Central Junior College where he was a member of the Baptist Student Union, ECJC band, ECJC choir, and the Drama Club. Jerry earned his Bachelor of Music Education degree and Master of Music degree from Delta State College. He was instrumental in forming the DSC Music Alumni Association and served as the first president.

Jerry began his 54 year music career by becoming a church music director in 1968 at Good Hope Baptist Church. While at Delta State he served First Baptist Church in Boyle, MS. After moving back to Winston County he was choir director at Calvary Baptist Church for 13 years and First Methodist Church of Louisville for 36 years. He also worked as a partner with his father in the masonry contracting business. Jerry received his AA Nursing degree from ECCC in 2000 and was employed as a Registered Nurse for Winston Medical Clinic in Louisville.

Jerry was fundamental in the formation of Cornerstone Clinic offering free medical aid to the citizens of Winston County and was chosen Winston County’s Man of the Year primarily for those efforts. Jerry was a member of Winstonville Masonic Lodge, Louisville Shrine Club, Louisville Little Theater and Served 40 years as a member of the ECCC Board of Trustees. Jerry was also a member of the East Winston Volunteer Fire Department

Jerry was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joyce Freeman Nance; his mother Modine Nance: two sons, Richard (Rachel) Nance of Louisville, and Jason (Sara) Nance of Northport, AL; two sisters, Pam Nance of Louisville, and Patsy (John) Prisock of Craig Springs, MS; and two grandsons, Bryce and Sam Nance.

Pallbearers will be Cliff Hudson, Joe Morgan, Wade Baskin, Brent Gregory, John Clark, Dan Sullivan, and Ricky Hartness.

Earl Randolph Kirk, Sr.

 Earl Randolph Kirk, Sr., 88, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at his home in Louisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Thursday, July 17, in the Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Kenny Chessor officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service from 2 p.m. until service time at Massey Funeral Home in Louisville. Interment will immediately follow the service in Sunrise Memorial Cemetery in Noxapater, Mississippi.

Earl was born November 11, 1936, to Alvin Earl and Enid Claire Schooler Kirk in Louisville. He retired as a material handler from Taylor Machine Works. Earl enjoyed working in his garden and singing the old country songs. He was known as “Mr. Fix-It” because he could fix anything and was also good at repurposing items that could not be repaired to work as designed. Most of all, he loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Earl is survived by his daughter, Julie Kirk of Louisville and son, Eddie Kirk (Selena) of Collinsville, Mississippi. One of his greatest joys was being “PaPaw” to his grandchildren: Natalie Holdiness, Alisha (Shelby) Copas, Jessica (Jason) Harlan, Heather Sabinson, Jeremy (Jennifer) Kirk, Kevin Kirk, Ashley Former, and Jennifer Kirk; as well as his great-grandchildren: Joseph Saucier, Edward Saucier, Amy Sabinson, Roy Sabinson, Justin Sabinson, Coby Sabinson, Destiny Sabinson, Erin Kilbreath, Kelsey Kirk, Austin Catt, Taylor Kirk, Caleb Kirk, Chelsea Murietta, Dominic Mack, Audrey Mack, Emily Kirk, Quinton Kirk, Aaron Randolph Kirk, and Jaxon Holdiness. He also leaves behind three great-great-grandchildren; sister, Kathryn Kirk; and brother, Sam Kirk (Barbara) all of Louisville. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sally Ann Kirk; sons, Ricky Kirk and Earl Kirk, Jr.; his parents; brothers, Alvin Ralph Kirk and Roger T. Kirk, sisters, Lola Kirk and Lavada (Bobby) Robertson; and great-grandson, Hunter Copas.

Clyde Ellis Jones

Clyde Ellis Jones, 62, passed away on Sunday, June 13, 2025, at Winston Medical Center in Louisville, Mississippi. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Clyde was born August 21, 1962, to Peter and Lyda Rea Pennington Caminiti in Biloxi, Mississippi. He loved Elvis and enjoyed golf and WWE wrestling. Clyde was an excellent baker; he loved baking birthday cakes and grilling for his family; and he loved all types of water activities. He honored his country by serving as a merchant marine and was working to attain his captain license.

Clyde is survived by his loving wife, Josephine Jones of Louisville; and his children: John Louie Pineda Jones, Jessica Jones, Joseph Charles Pineda Jones, and Kristelle Ann Jones. He is also survived by two sisters, Melba Armstrong and Paula Caminiti; and his brother, Russell Caminiti. Clyde was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joe Allen; and sister, Patricia Caminiti.

Henry Edwards

 

 97, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at his home in Louisville, Mississippi. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, July 14 at Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, in the Massey Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will immediately follow the service in Betheden Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Henry was born January 4, 1928, to William Henry Edwards and Willie Sue Ivy Edwards. He was a member of Bevill Hill Church. Henry was a retired truck driver and he enjoyed gardening. He answered the call of his country by serving in World War II.

Henry is survived by his children: Mary Eaves, Johnny Edwards, Bobby Joe Edwards (Linda), and Henrietta Chancellor (Mike). One of his greatest joys was being “PawPaw” to his grandchildren: Robert Edwards (Madison), George Edwards (Sara Catherine), Keith Edwards (Kayla), Paul Edwards (Kasey), Katherine Ming (Dewayne), Chris Eaves (Michelle), Kristi Chancellor, and Kevin Chancellor; as well as his great-grandchildren: Toby Ming, Keely Ming, Thomas Eaves, Easton Eaves, Jackson Edwards, Emma Still, Austin Still, Hayden Ming, Carson Eaves, Harrison Edwards, Isla Edwards, Brantley Grace Edwards, Molly Ruth Edwards, Ella Edwards, Ava Kay Edwards, Amerine Edwards, and Millee Edwards. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jimmie Ruth Edwards; his parents; and his brother, Dut Edwards.

Chris G. Creekmore

Christopher Gregory Creekmore, 64, passed away on July 8, 2025. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 11, 2025, in the Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. David Keen officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Interment will immediately follow the service in Good Hope Cemetery in Louisville.

He was born on August 16, 1960, in Roswell, New Mexico. As son to an Air Force father, Chris moved around the country as a child, but Chris always had a knack of making friends wherever he went, but no matter where he moved, Nanih Waiya was always his home, so much so that his final years were spent in the self-renovated comfort of his grandparents’ home in which he grew up as a child.

At an early age, Chris learned the value of hard work. A major goal in Chris’ life was to provide for the family that he loved dearly. Chris worked as an Industrial Mechanic for his entire 40 plus year career working on sewing machines, pharmaceutical equipment, copiers, and more. Through fervent dedication to his craft, Chris had the honor to train on new product lines with his company in Israel, where he had the opportunity to walk where Jesus walked, eat new cuisines, and make unique friends, one of which, Chris taught to fish in the pond on the Creekmore property.

Chris had many hobbies in his lifetime, and his hobbies seemed to always spill into the love of others in his life. His love of horses spilled over into his relationship with his daughter as he taught her how to ride at an early age. His love for fishing and building spilled over into his son, and his love for motorcycles spilled over into his wife who spent hundreds of hours and miles on the back of his burnt orange Harley Davidson where they made many cherished, lifelong friends.

Although Chris had many hobbies that he loved and cherished, there were none he loved more than his grandchildren. At the age of 50, Chris inherited not only a son-in-law but a grandson and granddaughter who immediately became the light of his life. Since then, the Creekmore family has been blessed with 3 more grandchildren, who became Chris’ entire world, turning “Chris” into “PawPaw”. For the last 15 years, Chris’ grandchildren added so much love, strength, and so many cherished memories.

Chris is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie Creekmore of Louisville; daughter, Jessica Creekmore Robbins (Jacob) of Brandon, Mississippi; and son, Jonathan Creekmore (Shelby) of Cullman, Alabama. One of his greatest joys was being “PawPaw” to Caden, Camille, Carson, Colton, and Carly Bea Robbins. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Bonnie Sue Creekmore; brother-in-law, Artis Miles; other family members, and many friends. Chris was preceded in death by his father, Jessie Hillman Creekmore; mother, Serita Gregory Creekmore Gentry; brother, Jeff Creekmore; sister, Alicia Creekmore; nephew, Adam Miles; and grandparents, J. D. and Laverne Gregory.

Bonnie Sue Dobbs

 Bonnie Sue Dobbs, 97, of Ruston, Louisiana, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2025. Born July 31, 1927, to Alvin and Myrtle Smith Proctor in Choctaw County, Mississippi, Bonnie “Sue” Dobbs dedicated much of her life to caring for others through her work as a nurse at the Tri-County Nursing Home in Louisville, Mississippi. Following her retirement, she and her husband moved to Ruston, Louisiana, where she became a devoted member of Calvary Baptist Church of Ruston. Her faith was a guiding force in her life, and she found joy and community in her church family.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Blanton Pagan (Tony Pagan) of Bradenton, Florida; three grandchildren: Steve Towne, Jr. (Corrine) of Cleveland, Texas; Teresa Jordan (Josh Jordan) of Ruston, Louisiana; and Gino Palmieri (Tamara Palmieri) of Eupora, Mississippi; and five great-grandchildren: Steven Towne III, Sheena Towne, Tyler Mann, Ariana Towne, and Lola Cooper.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Rasse Dobbs, and her daughter, Betty Lynn Skelton. A private graveside family service will be held at Louisville Memorial Cemetery in Louisville on Monday, July 7, 2025, with a celebration of life to follow at Calvary Baptist Church at a later time.

Murray L. Lowrey

Murray L. Lowrey, 58, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 1 at Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, in the Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Mark Mayo officiating. Murray was born August 15, 1966, to Aaron Olyn and Hilda Null Lowrey in Winston County, Mississippi. With his outgoing personality, he never met a stranger. If he met someone he did not know, his first question was “Who do you belong to?” Murray enjoyed traveling and one of the highlights of his life was the RV trip that he took across the United States with two special friends, Deborah Lea and Redd Pickell. He was the “life of the party” and if there was not a party, he would make it one! Murray was a loving son, brother, uncle, great-uncle, and great-great uncle; a devoted friend to all.

Murray is survived by his mother, Hilda Lowrey; his brother, Joe Lowrey (Glynda) all of Louisville; and his brother-in-law, Larry Richardson of Preston, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his father, Aaron Olyn Lowrey; two brothers, Tony Lowrey and Olyn “Keith” Lowrey; and his sister, Janice Lowrey Richardson.

Serving as pallbearers are Jacob Lowrey, Jeremy Shafer, Hunter Shafer, Aaron Shafer, Chris Crowson, and Frankie Joe Crowson.
