Mrs. Flora Lucille Haggard Lee, 97, of Louisville, Mississippi, passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2017, at Winston Medical Center Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 19th, at Calvary Baptist Church with Dr. Johnny Collins, pastor, and Dr. Lee Castle, son-in-law, officiating. Visitation will be at the church on the day of the funeral from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery following the service.

Manuel Philip “Pancho” Mijares, Jr

Mr. Manuel Philip “Pancho” Mijares, Jr., 81, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, September 17, 2017, at his residence in Louisville, Mississippi. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mr. Mijares was born January 2, 1936, to Manuel Mijares, Sr., and Anna Shepallos Mijares. He attended Whitehall United Methodist Church and was a welding supervisor with Trico Metal Products.

Mr. Mijares is survived by his wife, Barbara Mijares; four sons, Michael, Kenneth, Darrel and Craig Mijares; and two brothers, Robert and Arthur Mijares.

Melva Pearson

Mrs. Melva Crowson Pearson, 85, passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2017, at Louisville Healthcare in Louisville, MS. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 16th, at First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Mike Childs and Rev. Andy Pearson officiating. Visitation will be fron 1:00 P.M. until the service time at the church. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Pearson was born November 13, 1931 in Choctaw County. She was a public health nurse employed by the Winston County Health Department for many years, and a member of the Mississippi Nurses Association. Melva was very involved in the North Mississippi Emmaus community, as well as being an active member of First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ora Moss Crowson and Earl Crowson; one brother, Bob Crowson; and one sister, Ardena Johnston.

She is survived by her husband, Billy Dean Pearson of Louisville, MS; three sons, Andy (Sally) Pearson of Starkville, MS, Phil (Mary) Pearson of West Point, MS, and Chuck (Penny) Pearson of West Point, MS; one brother, Joe Crowson of Louisville, MS; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Cody Pearson, Matthew Pearson, Charles Pearson, Reed Pearson, John Pearson, Jonathan Stoll, and Nick Hester.

Dr. Rita Worrell Tanksley

Dr. Rita Worrell Tanksley, 66, wife of Thomas Tanksley, entered into Heaven on Wednesday, September 6, 2017.
Born at Montfort Jones Memorial Hospital in Kosciusko, MS on April 29, 1951 to John and Betty Worrell.
Graduating from Wingfield High School, she went on to Delta State for her Bachelor’s Degree and received her Master’s Degree from Florida International. In 1993, she earned her Doctorate Degree from Florida State University. In 2014, she retired from Mississippi State University as an Early Childhood Division Agent.
Growing up, her favorite thing to play was school. It was no surprise that she would grow up to become an excellent teacher and impact the lives of all her students. More than the love she had for teaching, Rita loved her family deeply. Her grandchildren were the light of her life.
She is preceded in death by three grandchildren, Ryan Jackson of Granitville, SC, Peyton and Paige Gary of Pensacola, FL, all of which she is now playing with in Heaven. In addition, she has three children, Shannon Hendrix of North Augusta, SC, Kelly Gary and her husband Matthew of Pensacola, FL and Cory Pepper and his wife Krystina of Rogers, AR. Her surviving grandchildren are Dylan Gary, Kolby Hendrix, Hayden Gary, Rylee Hendrix, Jayden Pepper, Carson Gary, Sydney Pepper and Lyla Rose Pepper. Additional surviving family members are great grandson, C.J. Anderson; brothers, Lewis Worrell and his wife Maggy of Valley, AL and Carlton Worrell and his wife Kim of Mobile, AL.
A celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, September 9th, 2017, at 11 o’clock at Culpepper Funeral Home Chapel in Kosciusko, MS with Brother Freeman Pierce and Brother Dick Hill officiating. Interment will follow in Salem Methodist Cemetery, Weir, MS.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 8th, 2017 from 5 to 8 pm.

Mr. Robinson, 68, passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Rush Foundation Hospital in Meridian, MS. He lived at Preston most of his life. He retired from Taylor Machine Works. Mr. Robinson was an avid hunter. He was a Mason, Shriner and member of Pleasant Springs Presbyterian Church.

Preceded in death: Parents, Richard Melvin Robinson and Oriel McArthur Robinson; Brother, James Barry Robinson. Survivors: Wife, Rita Carol Robinson of Preston; Sons, Dewayne Robinson (Pam) of Louisville and Randy Robinson (Sherry) of Preston; Sister, Joyce Hill (Dr. Wayne) of Louisville; (5) Grandchildren; (3) Great-Grandchildren; Several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Odis Anderson, 78, of Philadelphia, died Tuesday, September 5, 2017 in Louisville.

He was a native and longtime resident of the Bloomfield community in Neshoba County. He was a retired school bus driver for Neshoba Central. Mr. Anderson was a member of Center Hill Baptist Church.

September 6, 2017, at the age of 92. Billy Lynn was born on March 10, 1925, in Noxapater, MS. She was one of six children of Henry and Ella Estelle Kirkpatrick. She grew up and graduated high school as valedictorian from Noxapater, MS. She married Curtis Childs and began their family in Noxapater. They moved their young family to Louisville into the Evergreen Community. She joined the Evergreen Baptist Church where she remained an active member for the remainder of her life. Billy Lynn was known for many things.
