Mr. Kyle Clark Ray, 23, passed away on Friday, October 28, 2011, in Louisville, Mississippi. Mr. Ray was born October 10, 1988. He was a member of the East Louisville Volunteer Fire Department, and he worked as an Offshore Pipefitter in the Oil Field Industry.

In addition to his wife, Natalie, Mr. Ray is survived by two sons, Edward and Joseph Saucier of Louisville, Missisisppi. He is also survived by his grandmother, “Momma Grandmother” Sandra Clark; his father, Kenneth Eaves; his mother, Angela Clark Rivera and husband, Gerald; his grandfather, Anthony Clark; and his great-grandmothers, Katherine Hemphill and Hixie Clark all of Louisville, Mississippi. He is also survived by four sisters: Mallie Jane Rivera and Linda Carter and husband, Kevin, also of Louisville, Mississippi; Brandy Stone of Olympia, Washington; and Sasha Triplett and husband, Tim, of Gulfport, Mississippi. He also has three brothers: Roland Ray and wife, Bonnie, of Hamilton, Alabama; Aaron Rivera of Louisville, Mississippi; and Josh Rivera of Gulfport, Mississippi, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Maurice Eaves; his brother, Michael Eaves; and his nephew, Jacob Ralph Ray.

Mrs. Johnson was born October 12, 1917. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for seven years and was a member of the Joy Club. She was the Office Manager of the American Creosote Plant.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by five daughters: Jo Lane Johnson of Louisville, Mississippi; Peggy Reed of Starkville, Mississippi; Sue Fulton and husband, Gary, of Louisville, Mississippi; Ginny Jessup and husband, Jim of Aberdeen, Mississippi; and Jill Johnson of Columbus, Mississippi. She is also survived by six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Howard L. Johnson and her son-in-law, Bert Reed.

She is also survived by one sister, Marilyn Stokes, and two brothers, Albert O. Glass of Louisville, Mississippi, and Robert G. Glass of Pensacola, Florida. Mrs. Foster also has one granddaughter, Sarah Johnson. She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert O. and Betty Ruth Glass.

Mr. Frankie Joe Cannon, 72, died Monday, October 24, 2011 at Anderson Hospital in Meridian, MS. Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 28th, at 10:00 A.M. at Memorial Park Cemetery, with Rev. Paul Blanchard and Rev. Lewis Harris officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday at Porter Funeral Home. Mr. Cannon was born September 18, 1939, in Louisville, MS. He was a graduate of Louisville High School, and Mississippi State University with a Business degree. He worked as a bookkeeper for Zero Butane in Inverness, MS, and for Ballard & Hudspeth Construction in Louisville. He was a cattle farmer, and owned and operated Northwood Grocery for over 35 years. He was a member of the Army National Guard. He was preceded in death by his parents, Maggie Roberts and Joe Metts Cannon; and a sister, Mary Ann Cannon Yarbrough.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Alewine Cannon of Louisville; three daughters, Kim Walker and Angela Lee, both of Hattiesburg, MS, and Jennifer (Alan) Higgason of Daleville, MS; a son, David (Lori) Mitchell of Louisville; five grandchildren, Justin Mitchell, Dawson Mitchell, Meg Higgason, Will Higgason, and Jake Higgason; uncle, Roy (Sarah) Roberts, aunt, Mary June Roberts; niece and nephews, Amy (Rob) Landry, Dr. Steven (Paige) Yarbrough, and Danny (Angela) Yarbrough; and a special helper, Mrs. Anita Coleman.

Mrs. Merry Palmer Rainey, age 73, of McDonough, Georgia, passed away on Friday, October 21, 2011. She was born in Louisville, Mississippi, to the late James T. and Coley Ree Miles Palmer. Merry was a parishioner of St. James the Apostle Catholic Church and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, her dog, Sugar and sewing.

Mrs. Rainey is survived by her children, Linda McMath and husband, Rodney, of Powder Springs, Georgia; Rita Perdichizzi and husband, Ettore, of Fayetteville, Georgia; Kelly Mansulich and husband, Keith, of Fayetteville, Georgia; Patti Jacobson of Mansfield, Georgia; and James Rainey and wife, Mary, of Auburn, Alabama. She was also survived by 12 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; and four brothers, James Palmer of Detroit, Michigan; Rupert Palmer of College Station, Texas; Pettus Palmer of Jackson, Mississippi; and Haron Palmer of Stockbridge, Georgia; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Lyman Rainey and by siblings, Frances Humphries and Joel F. Palmer.

Mr. Thomas is survived by his daughter, Teresa Thomas, and two sons, Leonard Harold Thomas, Jr., and Johnny Wayne Thomas. He is also survived by two sisters, Marie Eaton and Evelyn Baxter, and three brothers, Don Thomas, William “Bill” Thomas and Arthur “Buddy” Thomas. In 1971, she graduated with a master's degree from the University of Alabama and later taught at the Mississippi School for the Deaf.

Mrs. Butts is survived by two brothers, George W. Bates and wife, Sally, and Frank Bates and wife, Freda, all of Birmingham, Alabama. She is preceded in death by her parents, George M. and Lillian Ethel Wade Bates.

Nick Oliver III

Nick Oliver, 72, of Ridgeland, died Thursday, September 29, 2011, in an automobile accident near Carthage, Ms along with Sue Vowell Oliver, his former wife, of Louisville, MS.

Services will be held for both Nick and Sue on Wednesday, October 5, 2011, at 10am at the Scotland Baptist Church near Winona, Ms. Nick will be buried near his family in Scotland Cemetery, and a procession will follow afterward to the Mount Zion Cemetery in Choctaw County, Ms, for the burial of Sue near her family.

There will be a joint visitation on Tuesday evening, October 4, from 5 to 8pm at the Oliver Funeral Home in Winona, MS.

Nick was a native of Vaiden, MS, and a graduate of Vaiden High School. He earned a BA in Engineering from Mississippi State University where he met and married Sue Vowell from Choctaw County. Nick was awarded the MBA from Delta State University while raising three children and working full time at Baxter Laboraties. He was a charter member of St. Luke Methodist Church in Cleveland, MS, retired from Mississippi Vocational Rehabilitation Services and was active in the Scotland Baptist Church of Winona, MS.

Nick was preceded in death by his parents, Randolph Oliver and Eura Dell Rogers Oliver; daughter, Elise Oliver McDaniel; and granddaughter, Annabella Oliver Kollatz.

Nick is survived by his daughter Amie Oliver Kollatz of Richmond, VA; son, Mark Saxon Oliver of Fremont, CA; two grandsons, Justin Farr of Canton, Ms and Luke Oliver of Fremont, CA; three granddaughters, Lauren and Kristen McDaniel of Navarre, FL, and Nina Zhou Oliver of Fremont, CA; three great grandchildren; brother Bobby Oliver and his wife, Shirley, of Winona, MS. and their children Walter and Ruth Marie.

Nick's friends and extended family will remember him as a genuine southern character. He was a teller of (mostly true) tall tales who loved epic westerns, the MSU Bulldogs and his ornery cat, Buster.

Sue Vowell Oliver

Sue V. Oliver, 74, of Louisville, died Thursday, September 29, 2011, in an automobile accident near Carthage, Ms along with her former husband, W.R "Nick" Oliver of Ridgeland, MS.

Services will be held for both Nick and Sue on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at 10am at the Scotland Baptist Church near Winona, Ms. Nick will be buried near his family in Scotland Cemetery, and a procession will follow afterwards to the Mount Zion Cemetery in Choctaw County, Ms for the buiral of Sue near her family.

There will be a visitation on Tuesday evening, October 4, from 5 to 8pm at the Oliver Funeral Home in Winona, MS.

Sue was a Choctaw County native and graduate of Weir High School. She continued her education at East Central Community College, received her B.A. in Education at Mississippi State University where she met and married William R. "Nick" Oliver from Winona. Sue earned her Masters degree in Education from Delta State University while raising three children and working for the Mississippi Department of Public Welfare. She was a charter member of the St. Luke Methodist Church in Cleveland, Ms. After Sue retired as a county supervisor from the Welfare Department she was active in the First United Methodist Church of Louisville, MS. She loved to travel and spend time with her family.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents Earl and Maude Vowell of Choctaw County, sisters Mary Pearl Walters, Sarah Romedy, brothers Woodrow, Herbert, T. J., Aaron, and Mike Vowell; daughter Elise Oliver McDaniel and granddaughter Annabella Oliver Kollatz.

Sue is survived by her daughter, Amie Oliver Kollatz of Richmond, VA; son, Mark Saxon Oliver of Fremont, CA; two grandsons, Justin Farr of Canton, Ms and Luke Oliver of Fremont, CA; three grandaughters, Lauren and Kristen McDaniel of Navarre, FL, and Nina Zhou Oliver of Fremont, CA; three great grandchildren; and siblings, Frederick Vowell of Ackerman, MS, Joe Vowell of McCool, MS, Ruth Reed of Glen Allen, MS and Margerite Sisson of Paducah, KY. Sue's family tree includes an orchard of beloved nieces and nephews that span the Mid-Atlantic region. Sue will be remembered for her strong, independent, resilient spirit and generous nature.

The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Mount Zion Cemetery Fund.

Terry Gene Palmer

Mr. Terry Gene Palmer, 57, died Monday, October 3, 2011, at his home in Louisville, MS. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, Oct. 5th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. David Keen officiating. Interment will be in Ellison Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Porter Funeral Home.

Mr. Palmer was born May 3, 1954, in Louisville, MS. He was a 1972 graduate of Nanih Waiya High School. He was the meat market manager at Piggly Wiggly for many years, and worked at Vowell’s Marketplace.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgia Arrington and Kerney Palmer.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Ann Puckett Palmer of Louisville; a daughter, Lori (Shawn) White of Louisville; a granddaughter, Isabella Grace White; two sisters, Patricia Ann Gregory and Betty Fay Smith, both of Brandon, MS; and a brother, Karith Palmer of Baton Rouge, LA.

Memorials may be made to St. Judes Children’s Hospital.
